Multi-ethnic society in Malaysia is the culture of Malaysia that draw the varied culture of different people of Malaysia. There are three main cultural, which is Malays, Chinese and India. The many different ethnicity that currently exist in Malaysia have their own unique and distinctive cultural identities with some crossover.

Online journalism is very dangerous to Malaysian of multi-ethnic society because most of media professionals in Malaysia work in tightly controlled media system.

Apart from that, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s initially made positive statement about press freedom.  The constitutions also guarantees freedom of expression under Article 10, but allows for hot of limitations on this right.

The 1984 Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) requires all publishers and printing firms to obtain an annual operations permit and gives the prime minister the authority to revoke licenses at any time without judicial review
Media in Malaysia is privately owned but the political parties and their investment companies control all major media companies. The Utusan Melayu Group publishes three Malay language dailies and has strong ties with ruling coalition. In addition, the star is owned by the Malaysian Chinese association, a party affiliated with the ruling coalition. However he was later charged under the 1948 Sedition Act and with criminal defamation under the penal code and thought to have fled to London to escape the charges, which many observer consider to be politically motivated.

This show that, what journalist write basically related to all ethnic in Malaysia, so that the news will not harm any of the ethnic. As Malaysia, we not fully play the press freedom, this is because one of the reason is multi-ethnic society in Malaysian. As a journalist, we should be aware of the danger of discrimination in delivering the information to public. Just be neutral in term of getting information or delivering it.
